CVE Saved… for now?

Last night I posted that funding for the CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) database had not been renewed, and that there was a chance that it would go offline. That funding was renewed at literally the last minute.

The database has been managed by the MITRE Corporation since September, 1999, and is widely considered to be the go-to list for IT vulnerabilities worldwide. It is used by governments, corporations, software developers, and cybersecurity experts as the primary repository of security vulnerabilities worldwide. Hopefully it will continue to operate for years to come, through good times and bad.
